The crossover’s three rows also get a slight visual overhaul.
For the model year 2023, Subaru Ascent will be a bit different. The Japanese-based automaker announced that the three-row crossover will be given a new look and upgraded technology. Subaru has announced that the 2023 Ascent will be available in Subaru dealerships by this fall.
Subaru’s visual changes really make the crossover stand out. The 2023 Ascent has a more prominent grille, flanked with a pair of new headlights that are much more aggressive than the previous units. Subaru has also updated the bumper’s appearance, pairing the new fog light surrounds and a redesigned lower grille opening. The rear gets new C-shaped taillights and new air ducts to improve aerodynamic flow.
Although the visual changes may seem minor, there are more important ones hidden beneath the sheetmetal. The new version of Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology will be available on the 2023 Ascent, as well as the updated 2023 Legacy. The Ascent will be equipped with the Wide-Angle Mono Camera from Subaru across its lineup, but not the car. Subaru has relegated the camera to the Touring XT model of the 2023 Legacy.
Subaru will offer automatic emergency steering for 2023 Ascent models with blind spot detection and lane change assistance. The system is capable of steering the vehicle to avoid collisions and can travel at speeds below 50 mph (80 km/h). Subaru’s Surround View Monitor is available to enhance safety. It provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle from above.
The 2023 Ascent will also receive safety tech upgrades. As standard, the crossover will come with the 11.6 inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth are also available. The 2023 Ascent will be available in the following trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.
The Onyx Edition was updated by Subaru to add more standard features. A new option package includes navigation, CabinConnect (an intercom system that allows the driver to speak to third-row passengers), a 12-way driver seat, second row sunshades, heated rear seats and more. The Onyx Edition gets black accents and 20-inch black wheels.
This fall, the 2023 Subaru Ascent will be available at dealers. We will provide more information about the pricing of the vehicle closer to its on-sale date. Subaru didn’t make any changes to the powertrain, so we expect that the current engine will continue unchanged.
