Two trucks get appearance packages for the new model years.
Toyota continues to update the 2023 model years with the introduction of the new Tundra and Tacoma. These trucks join the newly unveiled 2023 Venza and 2023 Camry (see related links below). both receive visual upgrades for this model year. The Japanese manufacturer introduces visual enhancements to the Tundra, Tacoma and other models in order to keep them fresh.
The 2023 Tundra is the first full-size model to get the new SX Package. This adds “without a large price tag” appearance upgrades. It’s available only on SR5 grades, in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. New 18-inch alloy wheels in Dark Gray Metallic are included, as well as a black finish for the door handles. A badge deletion treatment gives AWD models a more minimalistic look, while AWD models receive a blacked out 4×4 badge. Black accents are used in place of smoked silver trim elements to maintain the same atmosphere inside the cabin.
The Tundra will be available in five core trims for the 2023 model year: SR, Limited, Platinum and Platinum. Customers can upgrade to the TRD Pro or flagship Capstone models. Two powertrains are available for the truck: a twin-turbo, 437 horsepower V6 or an electrified twin turbo V6. The engines are standardly mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with a sequential shift mode and uphill/downhill shift logic. There is also tow/haul driving modes.
The 2023 Tacoma will be Toyota’s best-selling mid-size truck. Toyota has added two packages to the SR5 trim level in order to keep the model’s popularity. The new Tacoma will be available in the following trims: SR, TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road Limited. Nightshade Edition and Trail Edition are also back. SX Package includes standard black wheels and black wheel arches. The pickup’s exterior is covered in blacked-out trim, including the side mirror caps as well as the lug nuts.
The Chrome Package is another new appearance upgrade for 2023 model years. It is designed to add more sophistication and style to the Tacoma. New chrome 18-inch wheels are included, along with chrome-finished door handles. The interior features a leather-wrapped shift handle.
Two powertrain options are available for the 2023 Tacoma: a base 2.7-liter four cylinder unit and an optional 3.5 liter V6. Only the V6 models with 278 horsepower and 265 pounds-feet of torque are eligible for these two new appearance packages. The V6 and V6 engines are standard equipped with a six speed automatic gearbox, while the V6 can also be ordered with a six speed manual.
