This year, a global market launch will take place.
The teaser train for the next-generation Volkswagen Amarok continues. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles had released some sketches in January. Now, we have a few more.
It is not the final version of the long-awaited, eagerly awaited truck. VW refers to these as “near production sketches”, showing a clear front-to back view of the Amarok. The disproportionately shaped fender arches will not be as aggressive as the images show. Also, the low profile tires are not well-suited to an off-road vehicle with Ford RangerDNA. The teasers give a good idea of what to expect.
Albert-Johann Kirzinger is the head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. He stated that “we emphasize the distinct, expressive front designs on our pickup with an charismatic Amarok Signature that can also be found with very large lettering on the cargo box in the rear and is sported proudly by the Amarok.” The styling bar, which is a visual extension to the double cab in cargo box, gives the Amarok’s body dynamic and aerodynamic proportions.
The new truck will likely be slightly larger than the previous model. The new truck will be powered by a V6 TDI engine and Ford’s T6 platform underneath. It could also have turbocharged four-cylinder power to suit different markets. The latest teaser also shows off a variety of driver-assist tech VW claims is unique to midsize trucks. However, details are still left to the imagination. The new Amarok will not be just larger in size. It will also have more ground clearance than the previous-generation truck.
Although the 2023 VW Amarok will appear in international markets, it is unlikely that it will make its debut in the United States.
