Later in the year, the T6 platform-based pickup is expected to make its debut.
The Amarok was almost canceled by Volkswagen, but thanks its partnership with Ford has given the mid-sized pickup truck a new lease of life. Since December last year, the German marque has teased the model with “near production sketches” showing us a clear view.
Our friends from Kolesa put in a lot of work to create a teaser and other sketches that were released previously. These are some renderings that show the next-generation Amarok.
The Amarok was among the many products that VW partnered with Ford. The upcoming VW pickup will use the Ford Ranger platform and its highly updated T6 platform.
The new Amarok will measure 100 millimeters (3.93 in) longer than the current model and 40 mm (1.57in) wider than the old one. The current model is 5,254mm (206.9in) long and 1,954mm (76.9in) wide. The new model will have a higher ground clearance than its predecessor.
The Amarok is designed differently than the Ranger, if we base our judgment on these renderings. However, the proportions are still there as well as the square corners on both fascias and wheel wells.
VW will offer a variety of engine options for the Amarok, just like the Ranger. A V6 TDI diesel engine with a powerful V6 is confirmed. A more powerful Amarok R may also be in consideration for the Ranger Raptor.
Albert-Johann Kirzinger is the head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. He stated, “We emphasize our different, expressive front designs with a charismatic Amarok Signature that is also found with very big letters on the cargo container at the rear and is sported proudly by the Amarok.”
The global debut of the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok is expected to take place later in the year. The automaker is unlikely to sell the truck in the United States.
