The livestream begins at 1 PM EST/ 6 PM GMT.
Update: The VW ID.Buzz has arrived! You can read all about it in the debut posts.
Volkswagen’s ID was introduced on January 8, 2017. Buzz was introduced at NAIAS Detroit. After five years of teasers, the wait is over. Today’s electric Microbus debuts in passenger and cargo versions. A California camper will arrive around 2025.
A boxy people-mover is an intriguing example (and courageous) With SUVs growing in popularity, this proposal is still possible. It remains to see if nostalgia will benefit the ID. Buzz lives up to its hype. The electric van will not be coming to the USA until 2023 and the passenger long-wheelbase version of the VW Golf will be available. The standard model and its utilitarian variant will be available in Europe by the end of this year, once production has started in Hannover, Germany.
We have been watching the video previews almost daily, so we aren’t surprised by anything VW does. We are still excited to see the ID and the camouflage. Its production metal is buzzing. We saw the second teaser, which was released just a few days ago. It featured a lot of the happy two-tone interior featuring easter eggs that harken back to the original T1.
The ID is yet another MEB-based electric car. Buzz will initially be available with rear-wheel drive. It features an electric motor of 201 HP (150 kW), and 229 lbft (310 Nm). The battery has a capacity of 82 kWh and will provide the required juice. VW has already confirmed that a larger pack will arrive later. We also expect an AWD version of the engine with 300 horsepower.
The brick-shaped EV measures 4,712 mm (185.5in) long, 1,985mm (78.1in) wide and 1,937mm (76.2in) high, while the Cargo is one millimeter higher. They share the same 2,988mm (117.6in) wheelbase, but have different sized load sills. The passenger model has 619mm (24.3in), while the commercial version has 623mm (24.5in). VW has confirmed that the standard ID is available. The Buzz’s cargo area will be up to 1,121 Liters, while the Cargo’s will exceed 3.9m 3..
What other information do we have about the ID? Buzz? Buzz? The Cargo model will feature three seats in the front and a partition wall to the rear. The van will be equipped with the larger of the two batteries. It will offer bidirectional charging but not for vehicle-to-vehicle charging.
The ID will determine the wheel size. It will range from 18 to 21 inches. Buzz Cargo can carry 750 kg (1,653 lb) of payload and will be able to hold two Euro pallets. The commercial model is practical and will include an electrically-deployable towbar, barn doors, as well as a storage area under the passenger side.
As the livestream begins at 1 PM EST/ 6 PM GMT, the remaining pieces will be arranged.
