2023 VW Amarok's Tailgate with V6 Badge Revealed in New Teaser

A global unveiling of the Ranger-based truck will take place in July.

Volkswagen has a long-running game in mind with the Amarok pickup. A sketch of the midsize truck was released as a teaser in March 2020. The German marque has been slowly strip-teasing details. This latest clip shows the rear end. The teaser video is embedded in the following social media post. However, VW has now officially confirmed that the Amarok will be equipped with a V6 TDI motor. This is not surprising, but it’s not clear if this six-cylinder will actually be a VW TDI engine or a leftover from the 2023 Ford Ranger .The stamped wordmark at the tailgate, which is a reference to the Ford Ranger in the teaser, is another aspect of the Ford Ranger. In the video, you can also see the LED taillamp graphics.

A past Amarok teaser reveals the availability of optional matrix LED headlights (dubbed IQ Lights). These lights produce around 900 lumens in the facelifted VW Polo, almost twice the standard headlights. We also found these matrix LED headlights on the 2023 Ford Ranger, as we did a first-drive review with the Blue Oval pickup. The new Ford Amarok will have a length of 100 millimeters (3.93 in) and a width of more than 40mm (1.57in) over the previous model. The payload capacity has been raised to 2,645 lbs (1,200 kg), and the towing capacity to 7,716 lbs (3.500 kg) has been increased.

There will be five trims: Base, Life and Style. Panamericana and Aventura will also be available. The wheel sizes will vary according to the variant and can range from 17 to 21 inches. The Amarok’s infotainment system, which will be available in 10.1- or 12-inch sizes, will use Ford’s SYNC4 technology. It will also come with an 8-inch digital driver’s screen. Volkswagen will unveil the 2023 Amarok in July 2022. We will be able to get more information by then, but we are not surprised if another teaser is released in the coming weeks.
