Zuffenhausen has joined the split headlight train.

Porsche is busy preparing a hybrid 911 as well as the all-electric 718 Boxster/Cayman successor, while finishing the Macan EV. Although the zero-emissions crossover is often compared to its ICE-powered sibling it has been spotted looking very similar. We noticed a split headlight arrangement that Rolls-Royce and BMW have adopted.

Motor.es has used their sage to see the future of the Macan EV by digitally taking the camouflage from prototypes. Split headlights are a common feature, but we still haven’t embraced the idea of separate daytime running lamps above the main clusters. The Jeep Cherokee KL and Citroen C4 Picasso were among the first to adopt the modern design. But is it appropriate for Porsche? You can decide.

The Macan EV may have unconventional lights, but the gasoline-powered model will not be discontinued immediately. Porsche intends to sell both the ICE and EV models for a few years. The crossover will not have a combustion engine, unlike the Taycan and J1 platforms. It will be based on the PPE architecture developed with Audi. This model will be joined by the Q6 E-Tron as a sister model.

Although it will not be as large as its gasoline sibling the electric crossover should offer more space. Porsche will be able to reduce the vehicle’s overhangs and extend its wheelbase by using a bespoke EV platform. PPE is a step up from the MEB platform that was used in the Q4 E–Tron, and other VAG models. It will allow rear-wheel steering as well as torque vectoring.

Future EVs will be able charge at 350 kW using 800-volt technology, as previously announced. Both Audi and Porsche have confirmed that PPE-based vehicles will get air suspension, at least the 470 horsepower (350kilowatts), and 800 Newton-meters (590-pound-feet), of the E-Tron concept. The powerful output will be available in dual motor models with AWD, but smaller cars get a single motor mounted at the rear.

The battery packs for PPE models will be 100 kWh in gross capacity, which is much more than the J1 and MEB electric vehicles. Audi and Porsche announced that their platform will be able to support products from B to D segments. These models can have a wheelbase of 2,890 to 3,080 mm (114 to 121 in). These cars will have a ground clearance between 152 and 217mm (six to almost nine inches). PPE will also be available in other body types, such as sedans/liftbacks or wagons.

The official debuts of the Porsche Macan EV and Audi Q6 E-Tron will be made in 2023.
