The 335 horsepower output of the Supra is maintained in Europe.
Sorry Europeans, you won’t be able to get the 2021 Toyota Supra with 382 horsepower (285kilowatts), output. Piston Heads reported that the new higher-output powertrain cannot be offered due to stricter emission regulations in Europe. Just like the 2020 Supra, the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six turbocharged engine still produces 335 horsepower (250 kW).
The 2021 Supra has been updated to bring it in line with the BMW Z4M40i on the American market. Toyota stated that the engine’s changes included a dual-branch exhaust manifold, which has six ports on the 2020 model. New pistons were also installed by the company. This improved power reduced the acceleration time to 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) to 3.9 seconds instead of 4.1 seconds.
The 2021 Supra is more than a power boost. It’s not known if these improvements will be available on the European model. Toyota adjusts the damper tuning, and installs aluminum braces to connect to the strut towers to support the radiator. Programming changes are available for power steering, adaptive suspension and stability control as well as active rear differential.
Another big change in the 2021 Supra is the introduction the 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder. This powerplant will also be available in Europe . It produces 255 horsepower (190 kW) as well as 295 pound-feet (405 Newton-meters), of torque in both markets. It connects to an 8-speed automatic, just like the six-cylinder. The less powerful model can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.0 seconds and 62 mph (100.0 kph), in 5.2 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).
The Supra 2.0 is 200 lb (91 kg) lighter than the six-cylinder model. It weighs in at 3,181 pounds (1.442 kilograms). The diet includes the removal of features such as the adaptive suspension, active differential, and power seat.
