Speed is not a function of age.
Many stories have been shared about people who bought and drove sports cars into their 80s. We once reported on a 78 year-old buying a McLaren 720S and an 80-year old still driving his Ferrari F40. Even a 107-year old casually cruises in his Mercedes SLK320 red two-seater Mercedes SLK320 .
The point is that age doesn’t determine a person’s ability to drive fast – as this U.S. Air Force veteran proved by purchasing a Torch Red 2021 ChevyCorvette Stingray.
Chuck Cook, 90, purchased his Vette from Cecil Clark Chevrolet. The dealership shared the touching delivery on its Facebook page. The dealership even made the event more special by throwing a party for Cook with the Corvette Club present, complete with refreshments, balloons and a cake decorated with a Corvette C8 photograph.
Cook is a Leesburg resident. According to Leesburg Daily Commercial he purchased the Corvette C8 for himself as a birthday gift. He is not the first owner of a Vette. This is his fourth Corvette. He’s owned Corvettes since 1981.
Cook stated to the publication that he can’t wait for the pandemic to end so he can take this to all the car show.”
Cook is a Corvette enthusiast and his love for GM cars extends beyond the two-seat sports car. According to Cook, he also has a Chevrolet Equinox which he uses as his grocery cart.
Good sir, we owe you a big hat. Your long-lasting love affair for the Corvette is admirable. We hope that we will have the same passion for fast cars as you when we are older. Here’s to wishing your happy birthday and many more sports cars and birthdays.
