A Bold Driver Gets Arrested at a Racetrack During Red Flag

Your motorhome may not be able to go just because race cars have stopped.

It is not uncommon to see motorhomes on race tracks. Many racing enthusiasts find it a great idea to take their RV and enjoy the sights and sounds and excitement of motorsports for a weekend. As you can see, the key word is park at track, rather than driving on it. One fan couldn’t park the RV at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut this weekend. On July 16, practice sessions for the Northeast Grand Prix were being held when heavy rains brought out the red flags. This caused the session to be halted temporarily. The driver of the motorhome, which is quite snazzy, decided that it was a good idea to cruise the track. Did the driver make a bold decision to take a few laps on the track while they were stopped? Was the driver simply deciding it was time for a break and wanting a shortcut?

It’s impossible to know the exact reason, but it’s not a problem. Any unauthorized entry into a racetrack is illegal, regardless of whether it’s a red flag or not. This is especially true if a huge motorhome is involved. Tracks can be challenged by the extra weight. The motorhome was apparently reversing on the track, and although a red flag indicated that it was raining, this doesn’t necessarily mean safety vehicles weren’t in use.

The RV’s driver didn’t make it far. According to Sportcar365, track officials quickly surrounded the motorhome and arrested the driver for reckless endangerment. John Dagys, Sportscar365 posted a tweet that shows the RV in question parked at a police station. We suspect that this weekend race vacation was not a success.
