A couple converts a Ford Shuttle Bus into a National Park Visitor Bus

The adventure is also shared by their children.

With two young children, living in a Ford shuttle bus converted for travel is both heaven and hell. David and Madison Bowman have made it work for them, as well as their children. The video below gives a tour of their home and explains why they chose it.

They had lived previously in New York City apartments and decided to embark on an adventure to visit all 59 U.S. National Parks, as well as many other places. The couple purchased an Arizona-based Ford shuttle bus and set out to convert it into a motorhome.

A shuttle bus was chosen because it was the right size. It was smaller than a bus, but larger than a van. An RV wouldn’t work as none of the models had an interior layout that would suit their family. It was also more affordable. This vehicle was also safer because it had a steel cage structure. Traditional motorhomes are quite fragile underneath.

According to , the couple originally planned for the trip would last 18 months. The family could then drive across the country, and return to New York in the time it took for their oldest son’s kindergarten start. They eventually decided to homeschool their son.

This adventure is exciting for the right person. They were able to take their children and the couple on a trip across the country, and have seen things many have never experienced.
