Let’s introduce you to “Manila-proofed.”
Are you familiar with Metro Manila or Manila? Congratulations if you have, it’s because you’ve been to one the most dangerous places to drive in the world. This is not an exaggeration. It comes from someone who has lived here all his life.
Precarious motorcycles weaving in and out between lanes. This six-lane highway is jammed with cars of all kinds, and there are potholes large enough to damage even small crossovers suspensions. These are just some of the enemies you need to be aware of if you’re planning to drive here. Floods can appear from nowhere.
Atoy Customs, the same people who created the slammed Toyota FJ Cruiser previously featured here, came up with the idea for a Manilaproofed Toyota Land Cruiser. This modified LC200 was photographed and presented by . It is designed to withstand urban and tropical jungles.
Atoy Customs outfitted this LC200 with a Rival Russia aluminum front bar and 6mm under-vehicle protective plates. As an additional protection, a LineX-coated Opposite lock stepboard is installed on the sides. Rear end is protected by a Kaymar rear steelbar.
The protection is basically a wrap-around, with a complete Icon Vehicle Dynamics Stage 6 Suspension system to withstand all the crazy potholes. The LC200’s shoes are a pair of Method 310 Con-6 18×9 tires wrapped in BF Goodrich KO2 All Terrain tires.
Overkill? It’s not my opinion. It isn’t that crazy, especially not before the pandemic. The SUV’s numerous upgrades could provide peace of mind for its owner wherever he goes.
