A First Look at The Nissan Terra, the Navara-Based SUV

Before it goes to other markets, Terra arrives first in China.

The Terra Nissan SUV is finally arriving in China. We can’t fly around the world to see it in person but a new video gives us an extremely detailed look at the new SUV.

The Terra shares its platform’s body-on-frame platform and the Navara pickup. It can be ordered with seven or more seats. However, the video in this video is for five people. Although Nissan has not yet provided details on the powertrain of the new SUV, it shares engines with its Navara counterpart. Off-road, traction is provided by a four-wheel-drive system.

A First Look at The Nissan Terra, the Navara-Based SUV

The Terra’s front looks somewhat like the current Navara pickup. Nissan has installed a new grille to match the V-shaped styling on its other vehicles. The company also had to modify the truck’s headlights. The Terra seems to be made of high-quality materials inside, but the interior is very dark due to almost all being black except for a few shiny metallic trims. The center stack houses a touchscreen infotainment system, which is slow to respond to inputs.

The Terra will be launched in China first. However, it will eventually arrive in other countries. This is part of Nissan’s plan to increase its sales of body-on-frame commercial models by more than 40 percent by 2022. The model won’t be available in the United States as Nissan already offers a wide range of SUVs. The Terra is 192.2 inches (4.882 millimeters long) and would be too similar in size to the 192.4 inch (4,8870-mm), Murano for it to be included in the American lineup.
