The suspect was identified as a New York fugitive.
Imagine you have won an auction for a Dodge Challenger that has a rich history. The night was filled with celebration and drinking, but you forgot to check the vehicle at the auction. With an American muscle car in your trailer, you went home smiling from ear-to-ear. You discover a man inside your car. He is not moving, but he is still alive.
This scenario is fictional but could have been if it weren’t for Manheim Auto Auction’s inspection before the auctions.
A report from LNP states that a man was found inside a Dodge Challenger when it was delivered to Manheim Auto Auction. Darren Leeds, an employee at the auction house, found the man inside the trunk while he was inspecting and taking photos of newly-delivered vehicles.
There are many things that could happen inside a car.
Leeds stated in the LNP report that he opened the trunk to take trunk pictures and found a man in it. Leeds stated that the man was not moving much and he ran to get water for him.
Although the local police have not released any information regarding the source of Challenger, it is currently being investigated. The Challenger was one of the vehicles that were delivered from New York to Manheim Auto Auction.
However, a recent report by LNP identified the man as Leon Cyheime Parks (25), Bronx. Northern Lancaster County Regional Police says Parks is wanted in New York for parole violations and weapons offenses. Parks was identified by fingerprints, but police couldn’t find out why or how he got into Challenger’s trunk because he wasn’t cooperative.
We don’t know if Parks was forced into the car’s confines. We do know that modern cars have an escape system inside the trunk so Parks could have gotten out at any moment.
