The inline-five should be retained and could produce over 400 horsepower.

Ingolstadt finally appears to be giving a big win to Audi performance fans in the U.S. Car and Driver report that a new RS version Audi’s second-generation Q3 SUV has been unveiled. Or at least, someone at Audi is suggestingsuch an machine is in development. According to the report, the RS model will be available across the pond, where buyers can’t seem to stop buying SUVs and crossovers.

What can we expect from an upgraded Q3 now that the good news has been announced? Car and Driver reports that the TT RS inline-five will be back, and that the engine produces 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), so there is every reason to believe that the RS Q3 will provide at least as much power. This reasoning is solid, and the power will reach all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. You can make this a highly capable people-mover that looks just as good, if not better than, everything else in its class by adding upgraded brakes and suspension. From our point of view, this seems like an easy decision for Audi.

The new Q3 is still being mastered. The new Q3 launched just two weeks ago. It has a more sleek profile and all the latest design trends from Audi up front. The wheelbase is slightly longer, making it more spacious for passengers. You’ll find a variety of technology, including Apple CarPlay and a full suite of safety systems. We are sure many will also check out Audi’s Virtual Cockpit.

The standard Q3 will be available in Europe beginning in November. U.S. sales will follow in 2019 shortly. This means that we won’t likely see the RS model until at least next year. It seems like we will at least view it without having to travel across the Atlantic. Its arrival will be a happy day indeed.
