A New Chevy Blazer is Featured with Production Cues

It looks like Chevy’s new SUV is getting closer to debut.

Chevrolet plans its own revival following the Ford Bronco. After more than a decade of being off the market, the new Blazer will be the return of this iconic nameplate. But don’t expect the same rugged SUV as it was ten years ago. The road-going Chevy Blazer is revealed in spy photos.

The new images aren’t much better than the previous set. The majority of the body is still hidden in camouflage. There are some new clues that you should be aware of. One, the headlight fixtures look more prominent; the majority of the casing is still covered, but there’s a small amount of LED lighting that gives an indication of the new look.

These wheels are also unique to the Chevy lineup and appear production-ready. These larger units indicate that this could be a top-of-the-line trim, as opposed to the prototype wheels which suggested an entry-level model. These new wheels do not appear to have an increased ride height, even if they are slightly.

The new Blazer will sit between the Equinox and full-size Traverse in the Chevy lineup. The new Chi crossover platform will allow it to ride on vehicles such as the second-gen GMC Acadia and the new Cadillac XT5. Although it is likely that only two rows will be used, don’t rule out the possibility of a third.

There should be a variety of engines that can produce power. A 2.5-liter inline four will be available as an entry-level option, along with a 3.6-liter V6 that is paired with a nine-speed auto transmission. The Blazer will be competing directly with crossovers such as the Nissan Murano and the Ford Edge, and should arrive sometime before the year ends. Most likely, the Los Angeles Auto Show.
