Next year, Optima will be all new.

The current-generation Hyundai Optima will be ending soon. Kia will redesign the sedan next year for the 2021 model-year. This will give the old model a fresh look, new tech and many other improvements. Kia will still have to sell the current Optima until then. According to a report by Cars Direct, Kia has introduced the Optima Special Edition, which starts at $27.115. Pricing includes destination charges.

The new Optima costs $1,500 more than the S trim but is $800 less than the EX Premium. It slots between the two trims. According to the publication, it will take up the EX’s trim spot in the lineup. Kia decided to compete with its rivals by offering the features that customers need at a much lower price than those offered by Toyota and Honda.

CarsDirects received an early order guide detailing trim and confirmed with Kia that the Optima lineup has been updated. Black accents include the roof, mirror caps, and other accents on the new Optima Special Edition. The dark-accented theme continues with the 18-inch gloss-black wheels. Sparkling Silver paint is an exclusive trim color, and customers have the option to brighten the interior with the panoramic sunroof.

The Optima Special Edition shines inside. You will find heated front seats and heated steering wheels, as well as leather-wrapped and heated controls. Push-button start is also available. The Kia Optima Special Edition has all of these features and a panoramic sunroof. James Hopes, a Kia spokesperson, said that competitors offer comparable features for at least $4,000 less than the new Optima trim.

However, the updated styling does not translate into changes under the hood. Special Edition features Kia’s 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine, which produces the same 185 horsepower as before. It also delivers 178 pound-feet torque. The standard features of sedans are still appealing but they aren’t as popular as they once were. Crossovers are very popular and some automakers have decided to drop the segment entirely. Sales should be boosted by the all-new 2021 Kia Optima.
