A Possible Ferrari 812 GTO Reported Again on Maranello Streets

A Possible Ferrari 812 GTO Reported Again on Maranello Streets

We don’t know the name of this car. We like it.

A legend roams the streets of northern Italy around Maranello. It is home to the Ferrari car company. A sinister black car has been seen on occasion in recent months. Sometimes, it is followed by whispers of three letters, GTO. It has been spotted once again.

We’re getting a bit dramatic. YouTuber Varryx captured the fabled black Ferrari812 Superfast again, rolling through Maranello’s streets in broad daylight. It is still a mystery. These stunning visuals are thanks to high-definition footage, but Ferrari is credited for keeping the rumor mill quiet in terms of leaked information. This is a prelude for a new version 812? Is this a test mule to see if aerodynamic or powertrain developments can be made? Is it a GTO? At this point, people who are aware of the situation don’t even drop hints or talk.

Here are the facts. We can see multiple cars in this video, and we also see different registration numbers. These cars also look identical to prototypes previously. The rear diffuser is larger than the standard 812. In fact, both the front as well as the rear fascias are different. The car emits a slightly lower exhaust note, despite having some aerodynamic modifications. This suggests that there is something else with the V12 up front or with the piping running back.

These changes fuel speculation about the GTO’s return. This nameplate is a unique Ferrari design, only three times used. It was the 599 that was the last GTO-badged machine. At the time, Ferrari claimed it was the fastest road car they had ever made. It already has 789 horsepower thanks to its 6.5-liter V12 engine. So it’s easy to imagine aero upgrades and more power for a true GTO.

This is speculation. Ferrari may have other plans for the 812 Superfast than GTO. We’ll have to wait until Ferrari comes clean. That could be next week, next, or even if these are technology test mules.
