A Rotary-Engined Corvette sounds positively glorious

Some Corvette enthusiasts might be offended by the angry weedwhacker sounds coming from a C5 Z06.

Many a Mazda RX-7 driver has been subject to the humiliation of a GM LS swap. The tables have finally turned.

Rob Dahm shared a series YouTube videos in which he prepared a Chevrolet Corvette to attend the LS Fest. He did this by installing a Mazda rotary motor. This is not a Corvette – it’s also a C5Z06. It’s a C5 Z06 Corvette. How do you feel?

Rob had the Corvette town to a shop in order to have the exhaust piping and intercooler repaired. All underhood coolant lines will be addressed, mostly with braided. Dahm does not spare any expense and LS Fest is already in progress, this project must be completed within 48 hours.

This is where attention to detail is key. The car’s engine bay will receive a lot of attention at LS Fest. Anyone who has tried to prepare a project car for an event knows the struggle of getting it ready.

When an oil line breaks off, it is nearly done. The oil mist covers the engine bay and coats it with a messy oil spray. Rob replaces the oil line and the engine bay is restored to its original spotless condition. Dahm and his team look tired, but the car is ready for action after a quick breakfast and nap.

It is amazing to hear the Corvette rev and run for the first time. Even the most ardent rotary fan will admit that the roaring 13B rotary engine makes it seem odd coming from a Corvette. It’s impossible to imagine how LS Fest will react – but that’s another story.
