It has been completely restored and looks beautiful.

In the 1950s Chrysler teamed up with Ghia, an Italian design company. They would work together to develop the 1950 Plymouth XX-500. This was followed by a few other successful concepts and production vehicles over the next several years. This 1953 Chrysler Ghia Special Coupe was one of the most distinctive models.

Only 18 examples were made between 1951-53, all based on the New Yorker Deluxe chassis. The particular vehicle was purchased new in France by Le Mans racer and Chrysler’s French importer Leon Coulibeuf. It’s now up for sale in St. Louis for $575,000.

The car is finished in a beautiful two-tone exterior with chrome detailing and piping accents. It was fully restored over a period of more than a decade. It is equipped with a set period-correct chrome wire wheels and wide white-wall tires.

The cabin has a matching blue-overblue vinyl finish and white piping. Original features such as the radio, clock, steering wheel and even cigarette lighter are still intact. It is believed that the Chrysler was built later than most other Chia coupes, which came with only two seats.

The engine is powered by a 331 FirePowerHemi V8 that produces 180 horsepower (134kilowatts) and is paired with a semiautomatic Fluid Torque Drive 4-speed transmission. It’s almost 65 years old and still has all original components. The engine bay is also in remarkable condition.
