The Polish plant would also produce a Jeep and Fiat Model.
FCA will invest in Tychy in Poland to make hybrid and electric models for Alfa Romeo Fiat and Jeep. The plant will be able to build three new models starting in 2022, one of which is from each brand. FCA didn’t reveal how much money they were investing in the site in its announcement.
For now, the automaker will keep details about these vehicles secret. FCA describes them as “technologically advanced vehicles based on a novel concept of mobility” and “using advanced drive systems, such as an all-electric drive,” in the announcement of their factory investment.
Motor1.com’s Italian edition suggests that the three vehicles include the Alfa Romeo Brennero which is the brand’s compact crossover. These two vehicles are likely to be the successors of the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X.
FCA stated that these models will be available with fully electric powertrains as well as combustion engines. Hybrid variants may also be possible.
Another rumor is that FCA may use PSA’s Common Modular Platform to build its future small vehicles. FCA wrote to its suppliers in July 2020 requesting that they stop developing and implementing subcompact models. These underpinnings could also be used for the Tychy products or have a different architecture.
Tychy’s plant covers 2.4 km (0.9266 sq miles) and includes 42 suppliers facilities. There are approximately 2,500 workers. The site produced 263,176 vehicles in 2019.
