Slammed vans look cool too.
We recently wrote an article about ABT’s plans to offer a variety of options to improve the performance of their Volkswagen Transporter vans. It’s official. ABT is the largest tuner of Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. Although the initial press release was focused on the ABT power package, the company has recently revealed a few other bits that relate to exterior parts. You know what? You have to make what is basically a rollable loaf of bread a little more aerodynamic.
You can expect an increase in horsepower and torque if you choose to add the ABT Performance Upgrade to the top-spec 2.0 liter VW Transporter. This will bring the total horsepower up to 226 horsepower. The standard 2.0-liter engine produces 180 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet more torque than the 150 horsepower and 250 pounds-feet. Even though it is a van, these numbers are still quite impressive. This amount of drive must be impressive. The ABT Aero Package is available in either separate pieces or as an entire set through ABT Sportsline. The package includes a front skirt, side skirts and a rear skirt. It also has four glossy black end pipes. You can also choose from 19-inch or 20 inch wheels in matt black or diamond machined finishes.
The gallery shows the results. You can see how the kit makes the Transporter look sportier. The Bilstein Height Adjustable suspension kit can make a huge difference to the vehicle’s overall appearance. It allows both the front and back to be lowered by 1.5 to 2.7 inches. Special suspension springs are being developed at the moment and will soon be available. The aero package can also be used with smaller engines. But why should you look faster than you actually are?
