The 2019 Toyota Prius will receive improved all-weather driving capability thanks to a new all wheel-drive option. CarsDirecthas found the order guide for the model that has extra traction. It showed a base cost of $27,300 after destination.
Toyota will change the name of the Prius’ trims for 2019. Customers will now be able choose from L, LE and XLE models, as well as Touring models. According to CarsDirect, the LE level will have the cheapest all-wheel drive Prius, while the XLE will come with standard power-adjustable heated seats and will cost $29,740.Cars Direct Also, the base, non all-whee-drive 2019 Prius Eco model is $24,690 compared to $24,395 for a 2018 Prius 1.
All-wheel-drive Prius comes with an extra electric motor to drive the rear axle. To improve acceleration, the drivetrain can power all four wheels at speeds of up to 6 mph (9 km/h). To improve the vehicle’s traction, the motor at the back can be activated at speeds of up to 43 mph (69 km/h).
Toyota claims that the all-wheel drive Prius can get 52 miles per gallon in cities and 48 mpg on highways. This is a small drop in fuel economy from the front-drive 2018 Prius’s 54 mpg city rating and 50 highway rating.
After it goes on sale, the automaker believes that around 25% of Prius sales in America could be from the all-wheel drive variant. Because of the extra traction it offers, the hybrid model could be more appealing in snowy areas.
The 2019 Prius gets a styling update that makes it look more like the plug-in hybrid Prius Prime. There are two new colors: Supersonic Red or Electric Storm Blue.
