This isn’t a drill. It is actually happening.
Acura announced plans to reclaim the Integra nameplate, hot on the heels the NSX Type S’s debut. According to Jon Ikeda, the vehicle is billed as a compact premium entrant and will be revealed in 2022. It aims to offer the same fun-to-drive spirit of the original. The car’s silhouette was briefly displayed at the debut event for the NSX Type S. It is clear that we are dealing here with a two-door sports car. This is contrary to rumors last year that a new Integra-badged compact sedan was announced in a dealer presentation. Acura will soon launch its own two-door model. The resurrected Integra will likely be based on the 11th-generation Civic with the same engine as the manual-only Civic si.
Acura’s social media posts mention “Spring 2022”, which means that the fifth-generation Integra is likely to be available in 2023. The teaser image below shows the car’s name inscribed into the front bumper. The sharp LED headlights look very similar to the Type S. It will eventually arrive and offer affordable sports car enthusiasts another option to the likes Nissan Z and Subaru BRZ / Toyota GR 86. You may recall that Acura brand officer Jon Ikeda expressed interest in a hot TypeS version of all models. The Integra would be a great fit for this model, given its history.
