Leaked footage from Acura’s dealership shows that Acura will soon have more high-performance options.

There can be a love-hate relationship between dealerships and auto manufacturers. A leaked video was posted in the AcuraZine forums and intended only for dealerships. Although the clip was removed from its source, it provided some interesting information about Acura’s future including some notable additions to their lineup.

This big tamale is, arguably, the confirmation of a new MDX Type S. We saw it nearly a year ago with aggressive tires and quad exhaust tips. This is not the MDX. However, the automaker sent a 400-horsepower MDX Sport Hybrid up the Pikes Peak hill last year. It’s evident Acura is looking to sell more SUV with something sportier.

Unfortunately, the dealer presentation does not provide any additional information about the hotter MDX. Leaked images from last years show us the potential design of the new MDX. Spy sources also suggest that the engine will be powered by a twin-turbocharged, V6. We are speculating on the 3.0 liter version of the current engine, or the 3.0-liter that will go into the new TLX Type H.

If you don’t like SUVs, the new Type S version something will be your big tamale. The dealer presentation showed a screenshot of a compact sedan that will be launched before 2022. It appears that the new compact sedan will not be Acura’s current small sedan, ILX. This is quite interesting. Unless Acura is committing some clever misdirection, the ILX will not be available for purchase by Acura’s 2022 model year. This new sedan will take its place.

The AcuraZine forums are abuzz with speculation about Integra’s return, but it wouldn’t work in the current company naming structure. Escalade continues to exist amid a sea Cadillacalphanumeric names, and Lincoln decided to revive Continental among its alphabet soup of models. Also, it is possible to do anything.

Acura hopes to exceed 200,000 units annually if the presentation that was leaked is true. Based on what we know about SUV sales and the MDX, a Type S makeover should result in a higher number of sales. If Integra makes a comeback with a Type S sedan, it may inspire younger buyers to consider Acura.
