Can Godzilla overthrow its hybrid-powered rival crosstown rival?
We will give DragTimes credit. The guys at DragTimes have a lot of fun with supercars and this latest adventure took them to Las Vegas for a true Japanese battle. We all know how fast the Nissan GT-R is, despite it being an old machine. We don’t believe we’ve ever seen them face-to-face in any type of head-to-head fight. This is until now.
Speed Vegas is a motoring paradise in the Nevada desert, 10 miles south from town. Anyone can come in with some cash and take the controls of a supercar. You can get the best from a Lamborghini Uracan by racing on its own track. It costs $79 per lap. A Porsche 911 GT3 costs only $59 per lap if that seems too expensive. A lap can quickly add up, especially considering how addictive speed can be.
DragTimes escaped that trap by arriving with a 2017 Acura NSX rented from Diplomat Exotic Rentals, Las Vegas. A 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo waited at the track to see if they could match each other in real life. Both cars have a twin-turbo V6 with all-wheel drive. However, the NSX has a bank if electric motors. Godzilla in Nismo trim has 600 horsepower (447kilowatts) more than the Acura’s 573hp (427kW) combined output. Both cars reach 60 mph in three seconds, and can run quarter-miles in as little as 11 seconds.
What does this all mean in the real world? It’s as close as you would expect. The video shows four cars running, two at a stop and two at 40 mph. Although we won’t spoil what happens, it is possible that the winner could be determined by eating large meals before the race.
