Oder could it be an NSX type S?
It is hard to believe that the second-generation Acura NX has been in existence for six years. The Acura NSX was first introduced in 2015, as a 2016 model. Since then, it has not seen much change, except for occasional performance tweaks and options. We now have the first glimpse of an NSX in camouflage wrap. This tells us that a change is coming.
nsxjon shared a few photos of an orange NSX on Instagram. Only one allows us to get a good look at the back. The rear fascia has been updated with revised corner intakes. They are now significantly narrower, and slightly taller. Although the center vent appears wider, the rear diffuser seems to stand out more. The current model has the same taillights as the one before it.
Although images from the front aren’t as clear, it is easy to see the changes in the fascia. The large intakes at the lower end are split in half, leaving smaller openings at corners and a second vertically-oriented set closer towards the middle. It is difficult to see if there is a splitter low on the fascia. We could just be seeing a shadow, but it looks like there is. The rear headlights are identical to the front, as well as the hood, which has the same body lines and vents at the edges.
This may not be an NSX Facelift. There have been persistent rumors that a NSX type S and/or Type R are coming soon. We are unsure that this is a Type R, given the slight treatment to the back and standard-issue lip spoiler, but it could be a Type S with an upgraded look to differentiate it from the standard model. Although we would expect a power boost, at this stage, it is speculation. Insider information is not coming from our traditional spy sources.
Changes are coming to the NSX, whether it’s a full-line facelift of a sportier model.
