Bummer.
After looking at spy photos and surprisingly detailed Patent Filings, Honda’s long-awaited “baby NSX”, or ZSX, turned out to be the 400-horsepower (298 kilowatts) Honda Sports Vision GT. Fans of Gran Turismo were delighted to see the concept vehicle, but most of us wanted a real-world version. It doesn’t appear that we will see a production version of the vehicle anytime soon…
In a new interview, Acura confirmed with Autoguide that the long-awaited baby NSX will not be coming. Acura’s brand leader Emile Korkor asked: “Who wouldn’t love a newborn NSX?” Before dismissing the idea completely. Korkor did however state that the brand would be expanding hybrid technology and that it would be used less fuel efficiency and more for performance. This is positive news.
He said that mainstream mechanical was too simple in the interview. Hybrid technology was an innovative approach to a supercar with this degree of performance. The benefits of the unconventional drivetrain are truly amazing.”
You shouldn’t be looking for the all-new S2000. Honda flatly denied that a new S2000 sportscar is possible. In a similar interview, Hayato Mori (Senior Manager of Product Planning at Honda Canada) stated that the S2000 was an old product and that there are no plans to revive it.
Honda believes both the S2000, and the baby NSX, would struggle to compete in today’s market. The ZSX and S2000 are less practical than the Civic TypeR and NSX, which have fewer sports cars and less convertibles.
