It can also sleep up to four people
Every RV owner can appreciate the convenience of a small, portable campervan with all the amenities of a larger motorhome. There are compromises, though such vehicles do exist. Although we won’t claim that this camper, built by German-based Ahorn Camp, is perfect, it has some remarkable features for a camper its size. Yes, it has a full bathroom and an internal shower.
Officially, it’s called the Van Big City. While the name doesn’t sound very imaginative, it suggests that this camper is comfortable tackling city streets. It is made from a Renault Trafic and measures just 18 feet in length. The standard-height roof means it can fit under bridges and underneath the canopies above fuel stations. The interior has a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. There are also accommodations for up to four people.
The standard-height roof may not always be the same height. The pop-top can hold a large bed and provide additional headroom while the van is parked. This does not mean that the enclosed bathroom at the rear of the van is fully enclosed with the roof down, but we didn’t say the clever van was without compromises. It’s a small price for a toilet and shower in such a small van.
The bathroom is located adjacent to an L-shaped kitchen that features a refrigerator, two-burner stove and sink. There are two benches seats in the living/dining area. Although the front passenger and driver seats don’t swing backwards, the fixed benches eliminate the need for additional seating. The benches also convert the space into additional sleeping space, giving the van its 4-person capacity. Tanks can hold 18 gallons fresh water and 14.5 Gallons of wastewater.
It’s easy on the wallet too, with a starting price at EUR43,900. The current conversion rate has it translating to $51,839 US currency. This is not bad considering that this camper is full-featured. Unfortunately, the Ahorn Camp Van Big City can only be purchased for European markets.
