It’s obvious, but how will it look?
It is a well-known fact that the Stelvio will get a larger brother in the coming years. The yet unnamed model, which is expected to arrive at the end of the decade will be the largest production car for Alfa Romeo and compete with the Mercedes GLE and BMW X5.
Motor1.com Italy has digitally envisioned the larger Stelvio. It will most likely come with seven seats due to its larger footprint. Alfa Romeo’s design language has been a success with the Giulia, Stelvio and other large SUVs. We’re hopeful that it will work the same way for the big SUV.
Roberto Fedeli (technical officer at the automaker) was keen to give some details about the product in a recent interview. The mild hybrid powertrain will be a combination of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 48-volt electronic turbo setup. Due to the increased hardware and the larger SUV’s weight, it will likely weigh around 441 pounds (200 kg) more than the Stelvio.
Sergio Marchionne, CEO of FCA, said this week at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, that it is only the beginning of Alfa Romeo’s long-awaited revitalization. Our WheelsMag colleagues reported that the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief said the following:
“We’re in nursery school. I believe we have just begun.” He continued to say that we would need to wait until 2022 in order to see the new products, and added that it was “economically suicidal” for FCA not to develop Maserati. It makes sense to develop a larger model of the SUV, as they are so popular right now.
