We can only hope that the final version will look as good.

Alfa Romeo’s revelations are rare and far between. We are therefore very excited about the Tonale. It’s only a concept at the moment, but it is a sign of the brand’s intent to diversify its portfolio and add a smaller crossover to the slot below the Stelvio. The CUV was first announced by in June 2018, and now we have a glimpse of what’s coming.

It’s not a window into the future, but it is a window into the past. Alfa Romeo’s Future, the Tonale will feature retro design cues that pay homage to the marque’s classic cars. The 21-inch wheels, which resemble an old-fashioned telephone disc, remind us of the mid-engined 33 Stradale of the late 1960s. The headlight arrangement at the front is a nod towards cars like the SZ or Brera but with a modern twist. crossover For the next decade.

Alfa Romeo says the side profile hints at the Duetto Spider and Disco Volante Spider. The back of the concept, with its wraparound glass, roof spoiler and sleek full-width taillights gives the Tonale a unique look that will hopefully be carried over to the production model.

The dashboard houses a pair digital screens. One is a 12.3-inch diagonal screen for the instrument cluster, and the other is a 10.25 inch touchscreen for the infotainment systems. Climate vents have built-in screens, and some clever LED ambient lighting creates a comfortable atmosphere. We are hopeful that Alfa Romeo will not tone it down on the way to production.
