First images of the 2012 Ford Taurus Interceptor Police Car have been released. It will replace the Crown Victoria in 2011
First images of the Ford Interceptor Police Car are now available. The new Ford Interceptor Police Car will replace the Crown Victoria, which was retired in September 2011. Ford has been working on it for some time and it appears fully-equipped for modern law enforcement.
We are unable to reveal details about the powertrain, but it is possible that the FWD 3.5-litre V6 will be used for local duties, while high-speed highway patrol vehicles get the SHO version with Ecoboost. Ecoboost improves fuel economy despite the power increase. As is the case with its mandate and status, AWD will be standard on the SHO.
Most likely upgrades will include modifications to the suspension, improved cooling systems and stronger brakes.
This story will be updated within the next day or when the car is revealed at a private Las Vegas fleet sales event.
