Alpina will introduce the long roof version of the new generation BMW 3 Series. The B3 touring is the fastest wagon currently on the market, capable of traveling at 186 miles an hour (300 km per hour)

The 3.0-liter upgraded engine from the 3 Series Touring is the main news. It now benefits from a reworked twin-turbo technology, new engine control software, and a performance-optimized cooling system. These improvements are combined with hardware tweaks that result in a peak power output of 462 horsepower (340 megawatts) at 3,000 RPM – which is even higher than we expected. Maximum torque is 516 pound-feet (706 Newton-meters).

An eight-speed automatic gearbox is used to drive the inline-six engine. It has been modified to provide faster shift times. The xDrive all-wheel drive system distributes the power to all four wheels via fully variable torque distribution between both axles. An electronically-controlled limited-slip differential at the back provides improved traction under all conditions.

Alpina does not provide details on the acceleration times for the new B3 Touring. The wagon’s fuel efficiency is a notable feature. Alpina claims that they have developed a “state of the art exhaust gas treatment technology” which includes a gasoline particulate filters.

According to the manufacturer, this vehicle offers the best balance between performance, consumption and emission values. The WLTP measures that the wagon consumes 11.1 liters for every 100 km and emits 252 g/km CO2, which is equivalent to approximately 21.19 miles per gallon.

Alpina will begin customer deliveries of the B3 Touring in the second half 2020. The first quarter of next Year will see the opening of order books.
