This one will polarize.
The latest generation Alpina performance sedan from the German automaker is the third model of the B7 to be imported into America. Alpina in Europe has its own dealerships. In America, the BMW dealership network sells the B7 alongside the BMW 7 Series. The current model was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 and has received a extensive facelift this year. A beautiful example of the pre-facelift model was delivered to a U.S. customer. Or, is it?
This is a unique B7 with Alpina’s Mint Green paint and contrasting Merino leather inside. This car is not for everyone. In fact, if we were to specify our B7, it would probably be a darker shade or green. However, the car is a representation of someone else’s configuration, and it’s always nice to see that there’s some individuality. BMW of New York says you can spot this B7 in The Hamptons during the summer.
The B7 is a stunning performance sedan, regardless of its color. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is under the hood. It produces 600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts) as well as 590 pound-feet (890 Newton-meters). The motor is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is identical to the 7 Series standard, but with reprogrammed software to speed up shift times. Through a recalibrated xDrive system, the engine’s power reaches all four wheels via the 750i.
Alpina has made modifications to the sedan so it can travel 62 mph (100 km/h) from a stop in 3.6 seconds. The top speed is 205mph (330 kph). Amazingly, the sedan can go from 0 to 100 mph (0-200 km/h) in just 12.5 seconds for the pre-facelift model and 11.7 seconds for the updated version.
