Motor1.com readers will know how much we love Lego build. Every once in awhile, there are amazing Lego Ideas builds that deserve our attention. This one is a 1/8 scale replica the Mercedes-Benz W196R Formula 1 racecar.

The Mercedes-Benz HTML196R, particularly the 12th, is part of the family that made up the Mercedes Formula 1 race cars. This was the car that saw the automaker return to motorsport back in 1954. Juan Manuel Fangio was the man behind it, and the car won both the World F1 title as well as the World Sportscar Championship within just two years.

Only 14 W196R were ever made, and 10 are still in existence. The original Silver Arrow with chassis #006/54 on which the Lego build was built is still in existence. It was auctioned in July 2013 for PS17.5million (roughly $24.4 million at current exchange rates).
