This build shows incredible attention to detail.
There are many types of campers, overlanders, and station wagons that can provide an escape from home for those who seek adventure. While some of these vehicles are manufactured by skilled manufacturers, we are always amazed at the creativity and skill of individuals who create their own vanlife machines. This Mercedes Sprinter is our latest jaw-dropper. It’s called the Humble B 01 but there’s nothing humble.
This build is by Humbleroad, a YouTuber, who converted to vanlife after a long and successful career in photography. He also seems to have a lot of experience in car design, at least when it is about campers. The Mercedes Sprinter was an abandoned van more than a year ago. As the video and screenshots below show, it is a truly epic creation.
An iPad is mounted in the front of the car, where you would normally find an infotainment display or at least a stereo system. The tour starts up front. The iPad can handle all of these and has an OBD connector that allows for monitoring the Sprinter’s mechanical systems. We can see further back a futon that is mounted on a sliding frame and serves as a double bed when folded. Although the cabinets look like they should, the spring-actuated springs inside will not lose tension. The springs become rigid when the lid is open.
The flat-screen TV can be mounted on a swivel mounting that can be attached to the wall. Across from it is the Sprinter’s electrical command station. It is fully visible for everyone to see. The solar panels on the roof produce 480 watts of power. This is sufficient to power the camper for the entire day, according to the video.
The large kitchen space, which includes a big sink and a refrigerator, is something we think people will appreciate more. The custom-made stainless-steel tower at the back of the van is perhaps the most impressive feature. There are two sets of pipes in the back for outdoor showers. There’s also a toilet. It’s mounted on a slider, and it stows under the sink. It can be found in the shower bay, where curtains can easily be drawn to provide privacy.
This van is unique because of its attention to detail. Everything from the magnet mounts in cabinets to the exact angle for the backsplash (six degrees), is clearly part of an engineering genius. We are awestruck and, admittedly, a little jealous of the owner who purchased this van. Another humble project reportedly is in the works. We can’t wait until we see it.
