It is a pleasure to see the Tesla Model Y being built.
The Gigafactory Berlin has been finally opened by Tesla. This is the first European production center for Tesla, and it’s backed by the largest investment in a German auto factory in recent times: EUR5 billion or about $5.5 billion.
Tesla invites us to visit the new factory in a YouTube video. Instead of giving us a boring presentation, the California-based company gave us an incredible fly-through video. It could rival Hollywood’s greatest films.
For your viewing pleasure, we embedded the video on this page.
This three-minute video gave you a look inside the huge production facility and also provided a glimpse at the construction of the Tesla ModelY. As they assembled the electric crossover, the drone was seen moving in and out of the machines. It was surreal and you might wonder how the video was made.
Due to bureaucratic and environmental issues, the opening of Tesla Gigafactory Berlin took eight months. The factory was officially opened on March 4, 2022. According to Reuters the ceremony was attended by Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, and other high-ranking federal or local officials.
Tesla is looking to hire 12,000 people for its Grunheide battery assembly and battery plant. This will make it Brandenburg’s largest employer. It will produce 500,000 electric cars per year and generate 50 GWh of power when it reaches its full capacity. This factory is more than any other in the country.
JPMorgan predicts that Tesla Gigafactory Berlin will build approximately 54,000 cars by 2022. This number would rise to 280,000 in 2023 and then to 500,000 in 2025.
