This build is amazing in terms of craftsmanship and work.
A proper warning must be given before we proceed. This is not an alert for Lamborghini snobs. We know that some people will hate any copy, but this build deserves a lot of respect. This is the core of the warning. There are many detailed videos on YouTube Wheelers Builders that show the build. You will never be able to stop watching the previous episodes. The imagination, effort and craftsmanship displayed during this build are amazing.
This is not a kit car that was built in a weekend using sloppy body panels and stickers. This car was once a third-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. We challenge you to find anything on the exterior that could hint at its humble origins. The four-seat interior is a clear indication that the car was made in Russia. There’s also an automatic shifter and an Eclipse in the center console. You’ll understand that this car was stripped down to its bare metal and cut up. It was then fitted with a lot of custom-fabricated parts, measured, and reassembled .
How much effort went into this build? The video at the top shows the final product and the cost. However, the video below is a summary of the entire build in 10 minutes. To determine the best donor car, CAD drawings of different cars were created and overlayed on a Gallardo body. A complete Gallardo body was created from fiberglass. Then, to cut the Eclipse unibody up, new bones were added and the body fitted properly. These doors are amazing. They work with the existing Eclipse power windows motors, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the final product.
It’s still front-wheel drive underneath. While significant maintenance was done on the powertrain, brakes, and engine, the stock 3.0-liter V6 still dominates the windshield. Although it’s not as fast as a Lambo but it’s still affordable. That brings us to the last jaw-dropper in this build.
This price does not include the many labor hours these two skilled builders have invested. This included the Mitsubishi cost, all this for $16,000 Really? Yeah, really.
