All the fun of your journey in one package
For decades, outdoor adventurers and off-roaders have turned to the Jeep Wrangler as their vehicle of choice for getting out and about. You can pack a tent, sleeping bag and cooler to make a weekend getaway in the wilderness. California-based American Fastbacks transforms the Jeep into a campsite instead of using it as a way to get to the campsite.
This build is known as the American Fastbacks Badlands. It’s a Wrangler off-roading, rolling Wrangler recreation vehicle that can accommodate four people thanks to a clever roof-mounted tent. The camper is actually an electricly operated hardtop camper. It attaches to the Jeep’s top and features an aluminum frame with a mattress made of wool that can sleep two. Although it’s not clear how to get to the roof for a good nights sleep, it’s likely that such details won’t be a problem if you’re cruising through the wilderness in a Jeep camper.
Badlands includes a rear sleeper set for the Wrangler that transforms the cargo and rear seats into a bungalow for two. This special build includes a galley with a mini-fridge and propane stove with 2 burners. Yes, even the kitchen sink. It’s not clear how all that stuff fits in the Wrangler’s 4-door greenhouse, but we do know it is part of the package.
Many off-road upgrades are also included with this Wrangler RV. The RV comes with a 2.5-inch lift kit, 20-inch wheels and 35-inch tires. For emergency situations, off-road bumpers can be installed at the front and back. The body treatments include custom grilles, fenders, powered running board, and the required LED lighting. The interior has been adorned with American Fastbacks branding leather seats. The Badlands Jeep is IA certified, the company says.
This custom-made upfit is free, but Amercian Fastbacks will charge you a fee if it’s the Wrangler camping rig that you want.
