An Old Sketch of a Modern Chevelle Surfaces Looks Familiar

Would you love the nameplate’s return looking like this?

These days, iconic nameplates are selling well. The Ford Bronco has returned with a smaller crossover. Another returning model from the Blue Oval is the F-150 Lightning, while the grand wagoneer makes a return from Jeep.

The Blazer is General Motors’s new Blazer. However, the most exciting (excuse my pun) General Motors announcement was the return to GMC’s Hummer as an electric vehicle under their wing.

What if GM decides that the Chevelle nameplate should be returned? What if it looked like this?

It turns out that there was a sketch for the Chevelle from seven years ago, which was created by the General Motors Design Center. Be careful not to react violently. This was only a sketch and it’s an old one. It may or may not actually happen in real life.

Brian Malczewski is the lead exterior designer at GM. If you recognize him, he is the one responsible for the GMC Hummer EVO pickup and SUV’s designs. He also sketched the beautiful, low-slung hatchback which we previously featured. This was around the time that the new Chevelle was being penned.

Malczewski’s modern Chevelle is far removed from the 1960s star. The coupe silhouette is reminiscent of a Camaro, and the grille evokes the Blazer.

This sketch is, however, just as I said. This is not a sign that the nameplate will be returning, nor is it a confirmation that GM has already begun work on it.
