Another downsizing: The New Audi A8 Is the Last Audi With A W12 EngineThe Audi lineup is not going to be able to keep the R8’s V10 running for much longer than the R8.

Audi will soon offer the W12 engine as an option to the A8. The perfect combination for a large sedan is a powerful engine that runs smooth. However, the current A8 will be the last time the company offers it.

According to Car & Driver, Peter Mertens from Audi’s technical development department stated that the 12-cylinder will be discontinued soon. Customers want the 12-cylinder, and they’re happy with it. They will get it. This is not the end of the installation.

The 6.0-liter W12 engine from Volkswagen Group was first introduced on the top-of-the-line A8 L. However, the company has made minor improvements to the later versions. It was also available in the Volkswagen Phaeton, as well as a variety of Bentley’s including the current Bentayga.

The A8 can be ordered with any of a variety of engines from Europe. The big sedan can be ordered with either a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 or a pair of similar 4.0-liter V8s. Soon, the plug-in hybrid and the W12 will be available.

According to Car & Driver, Bentley does not intend to drop the W12 model. The W12 is the ideal vehicle for those who want to live in luxury.

Mertens has made it clear that he plans to scrap Audi’s larger engines. This includes the W12 and R8. In a 2017 interview , he stated that “Do we really require a V10 or W12 for our next generation of cars?”. Mertens said that the V8 engines of the company wouldn’t be affected.
