Inside you will find a track-ready cabin that includes a racing seat, harness and roll cage as well as a fire extinguisher.
APR is an expert in tuning Volkswagen Group vehicles. This year, the company will bring a special golf R to the SEMA Show. This steaming hot hatch is called the RLMS and it has 536 horsepower. While the 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder remains the base of the power, it also has the added advantage of APR’s 3+ turbocharger system and two-piece wheels with Toyo Tires. The company also offers a widebody kit, which is barely visible in the teaser image.
APR prepares the track by fitting an OMP racing harness and a racing seat to the RLMS. A custom roll cage is available and a fire extinguisher is also available. APR won’t be able to provide any further details on the Golf RRLMS before SEMA but it sounds like an interesting machine.Volkswagen is preparing to retire the Golf R, but the company is offering the 2019 model in 45 colors . 40 of these add $2,500 to the model’s price. Some shades are vintage, such as Ginster Yellow from 1997 Driver’s Edition GTI or Mars Red from the first-gen GTI.
Rumours suggest that the next generation Golf R is in development. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is still present, but it has been upgraded to a 48-volt mild-hybrid. This would increase the power output to approximately 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts). To maximize traction, it would be routed through a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox. VW is also expected to make the Golf R more aggressive with elements such as exposed carbon fiber trim and a front fascia featuring larger intakes. The back will have quad exhausts.
