Are you excited for the new 911 Speedster? This is an old one for $270K

Porsche produced only 356 of these cars in 2011

Spy shots reveal that Porsche is currently developing a new 911 Speedster that will likely be a limited-edition goodbye to the 991 generation. This 2011 example from the previous production run might be your best option if you don’t want to wait or can’t act fast enough to get on the waiting list. The dealer is selling the car at $269,800

This type of simplified design is a hallmark of Porsche, which dates back to the 356 Speedster in the late 1950s. Later, it produced limited-run versions of the 911 in 1989 and 1994 . Porsche produced just 356 units for the latest iteration. This was in nod to the original. This was the number 165 in that production.

The 2011 911 Speedster has a 3.8-liter flat six engine with 402 horsepower and 300 kilowatts. It also features a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. Performance enhancements include an adaptive suspension and ceramic-composite brakes rotors. Porsche Exclusive provided these cars with a modified body that includes a double bubble cover at the rear to protect the roof when open-top driving.

The 2011 911 Speedster is available only in Pure Blue and Carrara White. The interior is made of black leather and has body-color accents such as a checkered flag pattern on the seats.

These spy shots suggest that the 911 Speedster’s next model will continue to feature the double-bubble rear, but Porsche may have also designed a new convertible top. The car’s rear end is more aerodynamic with the roof down, thanks to the tweaked design. The 911 GTS would be powered by a 3.0-liter biturbo six that produces 450 horsepower (331 kW) as well as 405 pound-feet (551 Newton-meters) of torque. Expect a debut at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show (November 2018).
