Armored Truck loses $600K after rear door opens on highway

Police are searching for drivers who took cash and drove off.

Money doesn’t just drop out of the sky, but that’s exactly what happened on I-70 near Holt Road. Brinks truck was unable to pay $600,000. Cash poured onto the highway at rush hour yesterday morning, around 9 AM.

Brinks trucks were littered with bills and money, which caused delays and many problems. ISP Corporal Brock McCooe said that money was falling from the back onto the interstate. It was a scene from a movie, with bills flying everywhere, loose bills flying over the interstate and vehicles stopping to let people out of their cars.

The worker discovered that his truck was leaking cash when another driver pulled up to the truck’s window. There were many drivers pulling over to the side of roads, some even jumping over fences in order to grab the cash. They shouldn’t hold onto it for too long.

According to police, taking cash from the scene was still theft. Four drivers are being sought by police, including a school bus driver who pulled over and quickly grabbed cash before driving off. There were also four men who drove a white pickup truck and managed to grab a large amount of cash.

McCooe stated, “If you are willing to, in good faith, turn it in, there is amnesty. There’s no real question asked if you’re prepared to give it back.”
