Around 1,000 Cadillac CT4 Sedans Received with Wrong Badges

Oops.

Any member of the secret society for petrolheads knows that the incorrect badge can be a sensitive subject. Cadillac is the only one that has accidentally joined the club, other than those who do a badge-delete/re-badge on purpose. According to the story, around 1,000 Cadillac CT4 sedans received the wrong badges.

Cadillac Society reported last week that the CT4 equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 engine would be accompanied by the 450T badge. According to the automaker’s nomenclature these models would wear the 500T emblem. Although it isn’t a huge mix-up, only 1,155 vehicles were affected, we believe this model will still be a significant contribution.

It would be negligent not to explain Cadillac’s new naming scheme. The torque figures are in Newton-meters and used by Cadillac to reference the badge number. They are bookmarked with a T for turbocharging and a D for diesel. No matter who did the calculations, the CT4’s turbocharged 2.7 liter I4 engine (310 horsepower) produces 350 pound-feet. This translates into 474.5 Newton-meters.

Although this accidental rebadge might be considered embarrassing, we would like to think otherwise. This reminds us of the 1997 Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies, where they used a BMW 740i that was rebadged into a 750IL. Q famously called it the “seven hundred fifty.”

The Caddy, on the other hand, doesn’t have any gadgets. It hasn’t been given the same fame as the Bimmer. Although it would be difficult for the Bond series not to continue its Aston Martin heritage, we can still imagine a CT4 stuffed with spy goodies.
