It can be driven as a regular car.
Flying cars have been around for a while. The first attempts at developing flying cars date back to the early 20th century. Henry Ford was part of a similar project in mid-1920s. AeroMobil, Terrafugia and others have made significant advances in the development of road-legal flying vehicles in recent years. Most of the projects that were completed before the creation of this car required a runaway to take-off and land. Although it is still in concept, the car looks very promising.
Meet the Aska, an American-Israeli startup called Next Future Transportation. It is a flying car that was developed by NFT. The machine is actually an eVTOL vehicle. This stands for Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing. It can be driven as a regular car, with the wings folded back, or used as an electric private plane with vertical take-off and landing similar to a helicopter. The wings can be unfolded to reveal 10 ducted fans, with two more hidden at the rear of the vehicle and two more embedded into the wings.
The large battery pack provides power and there is a gasoline range extender that gives you an additional 350 miles (563 km) of flying range. The cabin can hold up to three people and an autonomous system will be used to control and navigate the vehicle on the roads and in the air. The Aska is expected to be in mass production by the end of 2017. However, the company behind it plans to offer a subscription service for $200-$300 per month.
Guy Kaplinsky (NFT Chairman), comments that “We aren’t building something for the rich.” “We are creating something that everyone can afford.” Maki Kaplinksy his wife and cofounder adds, “You’re solving traffic, the problem with wasting time. For the future, we have the most efficient and comfortable method of getting around.
