Ford executives were reportedly approached for the job.
In August 2020, Tobias Moers was appointed CEO of Aston Martin. It seems that the future of the ex-Mercedes-AMG chief executive is now uncertain.
This is the latest rumor by Autocar. It speculates that Moers’ uncertain financial position may be due to Moers’ precarious financial situation.
According to the automaker’s estimates, its annual core earnings will be less than expected by approximately 15 million pounds ($20million). This could be due to delays in shipping the Valkyrie hypercar , which began during the last quarter of 2021 .
AM delivered only 10 units of the Valkyrie worth $3.3 million last year. This is less than was expected. Electronics are the reason for delays.
Aston Martin had a fantastic year, with the DBX achieving an exceptional sales performance, surpassing all other models in the company’s stable. Autocar says that Aston’s financial performance was hampered by loan repayments.
Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin Executive Chairman, is reported to have reached out Steven Armstrong, Bloomberg reported. The information comes from unnamed sources. Armstrong, a Ford senior executive, has been with the Blue Oval for over 25 years. Armstrong was also the former chairman for Ford Europe.
Both Stroll and Aston Martin denied the reports at different times. Stroll stated to the Financial Times it was “categorically false” and that he was not involved in any way in trying to replace Tobias.
Moers had already laid out its plans for the future of the company’s powertrains in 2021. Mercedes-AMG has strengthened its ties with the British carmaker, while Aston’s lineup will be almost fully electrified by 2030. The plans have also removed the Valhalla’s V6 engine.
