It will cost $950,000, and only 88 copies will be made.
Aston Martin has produced some incredible limited-run cars, including the Lagonda Taraf sedan and the ultra-luxurious Vulcan. The Gaydon peeps are adding another to the list with the V12 Speedster, which was developed by the Q bespoke division of the company responsible for special projects. It was built over a period of 12 months using elements from Vantage and DBS Superleggera. All wrapped up in a unique package.
It combines elements from the 1953 DB3S and 1959 DBR1 eras with those of the 2013 CC100 Speedster concept. Following the Bentley Mulliner Bacalar, the V12 Speedster maximizes open-top thrills. It doesn’t even have a windshield. This is similar to the McLaren Elva. It is equipped with 21-inch centerlock wheels forged from carbon-ceramic brakes that provide stopping power.
The body is made mainly from carbon fiber. This has been used in the interior where the driver/passenger are separated by what Aston Martin calls a spine. It is similar to the Ferrari MonzaSP2. Interior is an amazing work of art. It combines leather, chrome, aluminum and 3D-printed rubber. A removable leather bag replaces the traditional glove box. There are two additional cargo areas in the twin humps that sit behind the seats.
The new Speedster features a V12 engine of a 5.2-liter displacement with two turbochargers. A ZF eight-speed automatic transmission sends 700 horsepower and 753 Newton meters (555 pound-feet), of torque to the rear axle via an limited-slip differential. The V12 Speedster can reach 62 mph (100 km/h), in just three and a quarter seconds, and tops out electronically at 186 mph. Imagine hitting 300 km/h without a roof or windscreen.
The adjacent gallery shows a concept specification package that incorporates an aviation theme. It is modeled after the F/A-18 Hornet. The exterior is finished in Skyfall Silver and the dual satin black exhaust tips are located in the middle of the rear bumper. The interior features black leather, carpets, and red door pulls. If you like the concept package, Q by Aston Martin can make it into a livery that you can actually have with your car.
Aston Martin has begun accepting orders and is asking for a starting price $950,000. Production will be limited at 88 cars, and customers deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter 2021.
