The highest estimate for Sinister Prancing Horse is $200k.
The LaFerrari cost $1.35M, making it far more expensive than the car. This was when the Maranello-based marque began taking orders for 499 of its cars. The original asking price of $4.7M is not so outrageous compared to the example. The car sold for three times as much at the Monterey Mecum Auctions sale last weekend. It was also more than twice the estimate by Mecum Auctions of $3.9M to $4.5M.
It wasn’t a regular LaFerrari. It was one of three cars that received a darkly sinister matte black paint called “Nero DSP Opaco.” Ferrari also added a small metal label to the base of the steering wheels which reads “CAVALLO INFERNALE” (horse of hell) or “infernal horse.”
The LaFerrari was driven for just 211 miles (339 km). It has a black leather-and-alcantara interior, with contrast red seatbelts and piping. The wheels are 19-inch front and 20-inch back and are shod with Pirelli P-Zero tires. Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with red pistons support the vehicle.
It is identical to the other LaFerraris and can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in under three seconds. The top speed is more than 218 mph (350 km/h).
Reminder: Ferrari will host the public debut at the Paris Motor Show of the LaFerrari aperta, which will be open to the public on October 1. Although the price has not been revealed, it is likely to be more expensive than the coupe.
