It will be able to ride on an EV platform developed with Porsche.
It’s better late than never! Audi has kicked its electrification plans into high speed with the launch the E-Tron. It will be followed by the E-Tron Sportback later in the year. The fully electric crossovers will join the Tesla Model S-rivaling E-TronGT in the second half next year. A road-going Q4 E-Tron is also in the pipeline for a launch in late 2020.
Audi will offer 12 pure electric models by the middle of next decade. There will also be a variety of sedans, wagons and crossovers. The E-Tron GT is a sedan. (pictured here) To go up against the A4, a smaller sedan will be added to the mix. Tesla Model 3 . This is more than a rumor. The reveal was made during an interview. Autocar Marc Lichte, Audi’s chief designer, has confirmed that it is 100% legal.
The man behind Ingolstadt’s new design language has confirmed that the development of the smaller, electric sedan is already underway. The new zero-emissions model will be able to ride on the same PPE platform that the E-Tron GT. It will also have roughly the same dimensions as the A6 Sedan.
If you don’t know what “PPE” means, it is a joint effort by Audi and Porsche. The market will see the first PPE-based models by the end of 2021. Audi’s PPE-based models will include models that “cover the high volume B and D segments.”
According to British magazine, the A4-sized electric vehicle is scheduled for release in 2023. It could be that we will see the production version in 2022 if this is true. History has shown us that there will be a prototype car to show off the real thing. This is similar to what happened with the E-Tron GT.
